Weasel is a woman with many faces. One of my favourites faces is her sleeping/sleepy face.
Place a Weasel in a warm, safe and dark place and she will sleep immediately. She’s fallen asleep while eating and talking. Admittedly, the eating thing was only once [or twice, I maintain it happened after a night at the emergency room, she says it happened after a night of being tech support on the phone] and my most memorable talking one was when we were on a bus coming home from town. Chatting away and boom asleep.
Car journeys are her weakness. The 30 minutes home from her parents house? If the heater is on and its cold outside? If we’re having quiet conversation in the background. Lolls her off to sleep in moments. Then one of my favourite Weasel games happens. Her neck becomes a ‘well-cooked piece of asparagus’. Her head will gently drift to either side, or maybe to the front. She’ll realise somewhere in her sleep that this isn’t comfortable and she’ll jerk up right again. Then drift away, then jerk. Over and over again, for ages. So what I like to do is try to ‘catch’ her head as it falls. I’ve been known to put Fergus in the line of fire to catch her too. I’ve put my finger out so she stabs herself in the forehead. Beautiful. This isn’t just cars, this is trains and buses too.
One of my other favourite faces is when she’s sitting at the computer and thinking real hard.
Her nostril twitches. It is painfully cute and I know she’s deep in thought when it happens.
Then there’s her surprised face. I may or may not lay on the floor next to her and randomly release the … up/down lever thing so she moves down really quickly.
And yes, I’m surprised she stays with me too.
