Five days to 10 years
You know how many people like to tell everyone under 25 that they’re too young to get married?
Bollocks I say!
When Weasel and I met we were 18 and 16 respectively. We got married at 19 and 18 respectively. We got to learn how the world works together. When we had a problem, we got to discuss it with each other and find a solution together. When we had to figure out how to get utilities hooked up in our new home, we figured it out together. When I had a problem at work, we discussed it and figured it out together.
She has my back every time and vice versa. We always put the other first. If I’m having a crumby day, but she’s hurting, my crumby day gets put on the back burner so we can help her. Then it’s mine turn. We work very hard to have balance.
Weasel taught me how to communicate clearly and resolve conflicts. I didn’t know how to do that when I moved here. My family’s method was to blow up, run away, come back and pretend nothing happened. This isn’t healthy and I am so grateful she worked with me and so patiently.
Also, it totally rocks to think that we could potentially be married 80 years.
