Look at what I do
I neglected to gloat! And I love gloating! My fabulously gorgeous wife has achieved a pay rise and a bonus this month, we’re very proud. We’re also very grateful because this means we’ll be able to continue to live the life which we are accustomed to even with me being useless.
The 20something Bloggers whom I joined during my ‘I might want more readers’ phase [has since passed] seem to have had a blogger swap. I guess the idea is you get paired with someone random and you write a witty and hilarious post on someone else’s blog in an effort to draw more people to yours and vice versa. I would hate having someone else writing here. It feels so … violating. This is my space for my shit, I like it here; it is exactly how I want it. I also don’t get the whole guest posting thing, if I’m on holiday or unavailable or hell, just don’t feel like writing my website will wait for me.
I’m not a community person, I shouldn’t have tried to be.
Happily I heard back from the disabled living allowance benefit people today and I’m approved! I’ll get money for transport and care costs. I was able to use the letter to apply for a disabled person’s railcard too. I took it up to Mal’s office and she kindly let me use their photo copier and I’ve sent it off. Not only will it allow me a discount, it’ll give whomever I’m travelling with [aka my carer] a discount too.
I must stop now because my elbow has decided that the minor pain I had all day was not enough. Will continue another day.
Ah elbow much better today. Limber. Loose, ready for action.
I recently took apart our backwards clock that has hung broken on the wall for over a year. It is backwards, I couldn’t figure out how to get backwards replacement parts. I discovered that the problem was with the glass cover pressing on the hands too much stopping them moving. Which would explain why the clock would start again if I tapped the glass. So I ordered a new clock movement and I plan to swap their hands when it arrives.
A few nights ago we turned on our bedroom fan and it refused to oscillate. We were sad. So today I looked up fan repair and I took that fucker apart. I know what’s wrong with it and I’m sure I’ll be able to fix it, but I cannot get one of the screws out. I’ve got my drill charging as we speak so I can use the big guns on it.
I’ve rather enjoyed these activities. It makes me feel like my Dad.
I also repaired a Weasel jumper, jeans and skirt and several pairs of socks.
I felt like my Mom.
These have all been done while I enjoy TV. I have acquired Whose Line is it anyway? UK style and I’m enjoying it thoroughly. I used to watch the UK version when I was a kid so it isn’t because I’m trying to deny my Americanism. I’ve also finally started watching Psych [thanks Mish!] and I am amused by it. Little predictable, but it doesn’t require a lot of effort so I like it. Entertaining.
I stopped watching Chuck because it was too predicable and very formulaic but not in the fun way that Eureka! was [is?].
Fireworks on Friday!! Yay. I’m very excited.
I made granola for the first time today. It was surprisingly easy. I thought it would require more effort. I went with Megan’s Granola and it was lovely. Of course I altered it to my tastes and halved it because I’m only one person. I’m very pleased though and I’ll definitely be making it again.
Now I go make sammaches for Weasel and I to consume. Mmm sammaches.
