Technology I has it

People I’ve called in the last two days:

  • Scruffs - my hair will be fixed on the 11th yay!
  • Vasculitis to verify that my appointment in three months was because they were too full up to give me a two month appointment
  • Some laser eye surgery place to be removed from their mailing list
  • Eleanor - she called back this morning we’re going out this afternoon - yay!
  • My college to find out what happens now that the two years for my course are nearly up and I am still sick. I have a year extension and nine units to do. I’m not giving up, but I’m not sure I’ll make it either.

I was going to call my doctor a book an appointment for blood tests, but decided to just arrange it when I’m there next week.

I got two books from the library to start learning sign language and I figured out ‘I love you’ last night and shared it with Weasel. This morning I was figuring out some other signs and showing Weasel. She left the room and when she came back she signed ‘I love you’ and I went to reply in kind but my headphone’s wire got caught on my water glass and spilled all over my keyboard, wrist rest, me, my chair and the floor. That’s love that is.

I’ve become a beta tester for Last.fm they have been working on a new design. I’m not sure why I was asked, but I had a look around. I don’t use most of their features, I just like the charts. It is a little white for my tastes and I told them as much. Guess we’ll see what they come up with.

Weasel spent some time dozing in the hammock this morning in the lovely sunshine. She came in after a few hours and left the hammock out. After a while I noticed things were a little cloudy and mentioned that I was concerned for the hammock. Weasel dutifully went and fetched it inside. Not 10 seconds later the heavens opened and we had a proper downpour for 10 minutes or so. Things have calmed now and the air is clean and smells of damp flowers and wet pavement. Bliss.

I love our sandwich toaster. I’ve been making cheese, ketchup and mustard sandwiches pretty much every day for the last month. I’m addicted. Weasel has been having cheese and marmite sandwiches pretty much every day for her entire life. She taught me about the cheese bridge technology and now I’m going to share it with you.

Assemble sandwiches as you prefer, then place them side-by-side with a one centimetre gap between them. As the cheese melts during the toasting process it will close this gap and become crunchy on the bottom and the top. This is truly a beautiful thing and brings me a inappropriate amount of pleasure.

I imagine the process could be replicated somehow in a skillet, but I think it would require a fair amount of patience and careful turning. I’d recommend narrowing the gap to half a centimetre instead. Good luck with your own cheese bridge building.
