The Illness

Published Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 12:23

I got a sinus infection in December 2006. It wouldn’t go away and I kept getting infections. I saw an ENT specialist from April to July 2007 and we thought I was fixed. I had a relapse and saw an ENT specialist on the NHS.

In October 2007 he diagnosed Wegener’s granulomatosis [WG]. Treatment is steroids and an immunosuppressant. After a course of chemotherapy from January to April 2008 my WG was declared quiet.

I have lost my hearing to the WG - I’m in the queue for hearing aids now. I’ve also had some lung damage which is being treated surgically.

My complete story is online here.

Here you can read about my first ENT appointment or when I got my official diagnosis.
